Acupuncture points are the locations which focus acupuncture, acupressure, sonopuncture and laser acupuncture treatments. Acupuncture meridians traditionally are believed to constitute channels connecting the surface of the body to internal organs. We hypothesize that the network of acupuncture points and meridians can be viewed as a representation of the network formed by interstitial connective tissue. This hypothesis is supported by ultrasound images showing connective tissue cleavage planes at acupuncture points in normal human subjects. To test this hypothesis, we mapped acupuncture points in serial gross anatomical sections through the human arm. There are several acupuncture points which are distributed along meridians (these are the connected points which effect specific organs).There are many acupuncture points associated with each meridian. Acupuncture points are mapped to fourteen major meridians. One meridian is present at one of the twelve internal organs and in remaining two, one is present along spine and another is present along midline of abdomen. Recently many extra points are determined in different parts of body such as nose, ears, scalp, hands wrist, feet and ankles.

This point is used in treating mild disorders such as cold, influenza, neck pain and fever.  It is also used for lowering blood pressures and relaxes tension.
